This makes it less invasive and also allows for faster recovery time compared to other types of laser eye surgery.
• Wavefront-Guided LASIK: Wavefront-guided LASIK is a newer type of laser eye surgery that uses digital mapping technology to customize the treatment and make it more precise. This allows surgeons to create a personalized treatment plan for each patient, resulting in better outcomes than with traditional LASIK. It’s also one of the most expensive types of laser eye surgery and is typically only recommended for patients with very severe vision problems, or those who have not been able to benefit from standard LASIK treatments.
• PRK: Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is an older form of laser eye surgery that has been used since the 1990s. It works by reshaping the front surface of the cornea to correct vision problems, but unlike other types of LASIK, it does not involve making a flap in your eye. Because it does not involve a flap, PRK is generally preferred for people with thinner corneas or who have had prior eye surgeries.
• ICL : Implantable Collamer lenses (ICLs) are a newer type of laser eye surgery. They involve surgically implanting tiny lens implants into the eye to improve vision and reduce need for glasses or contacts. ICLs are typically only recommended for people with higher levels of nearsightedness, but they can provide excellent results in those cases. It also has a longer recovery time than other forms of laser eye surgery, so it’s important to discuss the risks and benefits of PRK with your doctor before deciding if it’s right for you.
